The Intersectional Risk Tracker Tool

The Intersectional Risk Tracking Tool (IRTT) is a specialist, practice-based framework designed to strengthen risk assessment through an intersectional, anti-oppressive lens.

Developed by We Are Frieda CIC, the IRTT is designed to move beyond single-axis approaches to risk and recognise that abuse does not occur in isolation or in a vacuum, but instead it is shaped by power, identity, systems, and history.

The IRTT is not created as a replacement for professional judgement, or other forms of standardised risk assessment, instead it is intended to function as a support mechanism for both of these combined.

To support best practice, attending our specialist training is highly encouraged.

The IRTT training is delivered through a modular quarterly training programme. Practitioners will complete the

Foundations session before selecting specialist factor deep-dives aligned to their practice needs. Each quarter includes repeat delivery of high-demand risk areas including physical health, racial trauma, pregnancy and reproductive coercion, and structural harm.

All sessions are bookable individually via Eventbrite.

The Anatomy of Adultification

This resource examines the process of adultification, particularly as it impacts Black and racialised children and young people. It explores how racialised and gendered stereotypes distort perceptions of vulnerability, leading to reduced protection, increased criminalisation, and harmful professional responses. The framework supports practitioners to identify bias, challenge harmful narratives, and respond in ways that centre safeguarding, care, and equity.

The Anatomy of FGM

A layered framework that explores Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) beyond the act itself, situating it within its cultural, historical, and structural context. This resource maps the continuum from the practice and its physical and psychological impacts, through legal and policy responses, to community resistance and global action. It supports practitioners to move beyond surface-level understanding and engage with FGM as a complex, intersectional issue shaped by power, identity, and systemic factors.

The House of Entrapment

A visual and conceptual tool designed to support understanding of how intersecting forms of oppression create conditions of entrapment for survivors. Using the metaphor of a house, this framework highlights how structural inequalities, such as racism, sexism, ableism, and heteronormativity, form the foundation, while stereotypes, discrimination, and systemic barriers reinforce and sustain harm. It is particularly useful for unpacking how individual experiences are shaped and constrained by wider socio-cultural and institutional forces.
